Default Ritball!

Well, here it is, Ritball!
The idea originally came from here:http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10292458
This would be a specialty PvP arena like the Costume Brawl or Dragon Arena.

In the game there would be a ritualist in the back who would conjure his item spells and the team would have to work them down the field to score a goal. There would be various item spells that would have various effects and you would have to use them wisely to keep your team going, stop the enemy team, and score points. Here is something quick I threw to gether in MS Paint (it is crude, I know):

The light blue area is where the Ritualist can go, his movement is limited.
The purple area is where the Assassins can do, they are the last line of defense and the curriers for the items to the warriors.
The red area is where the Warriors are, they are the first line of defense and transport the items from the Assassins to the Rangers.
The green area is for the Rangers, who try to take the items and score points.
The mixed color areas are where the two classes can both be, for added defense and hand offs.
The players wouldn't be able to pass their specific barriers, and would have to shuttle and items down the field.

The Rits would have access to basic item spells that would serve different purposes. Items such as:
The Ball: the basic item spell, no effects, but is used to score points
[Cruel was Daoshen]: used to hurt the enemy players
[Grasping was Kuurong]: damage and knockdown
[Generous was Tsungrai]: heal an ally that is really low on health
[Protective was Kaolai]: heal all allies for a small amount
[Lively was Naomei]: resurrect dead allies
These items would have no duration, as you would have to move then the whole length of the field.
One detail I thought of is that players will not regenerate (Ritualists will be invulnerable). So if the Ritualist doesn't pass down healing items through the field players will die, if they do die then the Rit must get a Lively down there to res them.

The Assassins, Warriors, and Rangers would all have skills to help them advance the ball and protect (I havn't put much thought into these yet).

Some examples of skills (taken from the thread the original idea came from):

Hand Off - 10/1/15
Skill. Hand your current item spell to target touched ally. There is a 15% chance the party member will drop it (if this occurs, any "when dropped" effects still activate).

Go Deep! - 15/2/20
Spell. Throw your current item spell to target ally. There is a 30% chance the party member will drop it (if this occurs, any "when dropped" effects still activate).

Tackle - 10/1/10
Skill. Target touched foe drops their current item, you have a 15% chance of gaining that item.

Interception - 10/ 1/4 /20
Skill. If an item spell is being thrown to an adjacent enemy you have a 40% chance of catching it.

"On Two!"
Shout. The next 1...3 item spell transfer skills used by your allies have 1 second added to their cast time and cannot be intercepted.

"On Sound!"
Shout. The next 1...3 item spell transfer skills used by your allies have 1 second subtracted from their cast time but are easily intercepted. Cast time cannot be reduced below 1/3 seconds.

Obviously there would be more (and much better) skills, but this is a start.

I think this could be really fun if it went the right way. A few potential problems have crossed my mind, but I'll leave it at this for now. This is just a starting outline of the game, comments and critisicms are welcome.

Thank you to Mortal Amongst Mere Gods for the initial suggestion of Ritball (even if it was in jest) and to Alex the Great and Pyra Fade for skill ideas. Big thanks to Azazel The Assassin for his game and skill ideas (see his posts below).

Oh... uhh... I just copied those straight from the other thread. >_> I'm lazy.
And I'd like some suggestions on how to improve it or new skill ideas or anything really, so help me out if you can.

First, you only cover about half of the professions. What about the Paragons and other caster professions? And I don't see how this game is competition either, might be just me though.

I suggest making it Rit; Assassin/Dervish/Mesmer; Warrior/Paragon/Monk; Ranger/Necromancer/Elementalist. With that set up, all of the professions play the game.

Anyways, ideas on the skills part.
Change interrupted to intercepted on the shout skills, the interruption for this game will be called interception.

Change Interception to:
Interception - 10/ 1/4 /20
Skill. For 10 seconds, you have 40% chance of intercepting a catch from adjacent enemies.

Or something like that.

Also, some Profession Specific skills would be nice.

Here is what I suggest for a skill bar(5 skills per bar):
Ritualist:
Random Item Spell|Random Item Spell|Random Item Spell|Hand Off|Hasten Pass
Hasten Pass - 5/ /10
Skill. For 5 10 seconds, you make Items 50% faster.

All Item Spells should have a rather long crafting time for the game, say 10 seconds, for a bit of a challenge. The Item Spells also alternate between others after every use, sometimes you can get 2, or even 3 of the same Item Spells on your bar. It will be completely random of how they appear though.

All Other Professions:
Hand Off|Go Deep!

Assassin/Mesmer:
Snatch|Blind Sight|Trip

Dervish
Snatch|Trip|Sweep

Snatch - 5/ 1/4 /5
Touch Skill. Steal an Item target for was carrying.

Blind Sight - 15/ 1 /20
Skill. For 10 seconds, target enemy cannot catch thrown Items and has a 50% chance of dropping handed Items.*no effect on Items already being carried*

Trip - 10/ 1/2 /10
Touch Skill. Target Enemy is Knocked Down and takes 20 damage. Any Item being carried is dropped.

Rush - 5/ /5
Stance. For 3 seconds, you move 25% faster and pass 25% faster. 50% more chance of not making a pass.

Warrior/Paragon:
Tackle|"On Two!"|"Run!"

Monk:
Tackle|Breeze|"Help!"

Tackle - 10/1/15
Touch Skill. Target touched foe is Knocked Down and takes 50 damage. Any Item being carried is dropped, you have a 15% chance of gaining that item.

"Run! - 15/ /5
Shout. Target other Ally runs 15% faster for 20 seconds.

Breeze - 10/1/5
Spell. Target Ally gains 50 health.

"Help!" - 20/ /30
Shout. Nearby allies lose 50 health, you gain 50 health for each ally nearby.

Ranger:
Interception|Stride|"Get Him!"

Necromancer/Elementalist:
Interception|Stride|"On Sound!"

Stride - 10/ /15
Stance. You move 25% faster for 10 seconds.

"Get Him!" - 15/ /10
Shout. For 5 seconds, nearby allies have 50% chance to knock down adjacent enemies when using a skill.

My suggestion for the amount of people to play would be.
1 Ritualist.
2 Assassins/Dervishes/Mesmers.
2 Warriors/Paragons/Monks.
2 Rangers/Necromancers/Elementalists.
Giving a Grand Total of 7 people total per team, an unusual amount but its either that, 4 -too few imo-, or 10. That is, with the layout made by Koricen.

Feel free to edit the skills I made.

I hope ANet looks at this. This really sounds like fun.

Just got a fun idea for this while doing Ice Caves of Sorrows mission. Random spawning Powder Kegs! That would be fun to toss around!

I didn't mean to exclude any professions, I just wanted to keep it simple for now. Any class could enter any position, figured I would have it transform the character's model like it does for the Costume Brawl.

I love this idea, throw around powder kegs and splinter mines.
Could use this skill too:
Think Fast! - 5/ 1/4 /10
Skill. Can only be used on an enemy that is holding a bundle. Throw your current item at target foe. Both items are considered dropped at the foe's location.

Thanks Azazel for all the skill ideas. I'm decent at coming up with interesting concepts, but terrible at specifics. I think a good team configuration would be 1 Rit, 2 backline, 3 midline, and 2 frontline. Middle line would be critical as they are not only the main defense but also carriers and will be the busiest.
If anyone else has any suggestions feel free to post them.
